Map FHIR resources to flat columnar tables via ViewDefinition. Run measures + analytics with normal SQL instead of CQL engines.

Defines a "view definition" — a portable spec that says "from each Patient resource, extract these columns into a flat table." The data engineer's escape hatch from FHIR's nested JSON.

Backed by Google, Microsoft, Smile, several payers. Adopted by the HL7 SQL on FHIR sub-group.
